Minutes

Were sent via email to committee members in advance of the meeting and agreed.

Matters Arising

( Dave ) - Bow maintenance session to be held after the Beginners’ Course ( date to be decided later ), and should be aimed at 2 levels. It should be mainly “Hands on” and Dave, Alan & Mick to produce relevant material.

Officers Reports

Reports as follows;

  • Equipment Officer ( Alan ) - he aims to assess condition of club bows in advance of Beginners’ Course.
  • Records Officer ( Mick ) - Target Day dates to be worked out soon ( Dave to help ) and to limit the rounds to those of 9 dozen arrows or less.
  • Junior reporesentative (Phil) [Post meeting] - We have received the formal notification of the termination of the memnership of the brothers Thomas and Sam Harper. The Equipment Officer has been informed of the return of thier equipment who noted they had not replaced the string.
  • Webmaster ( Paul ) - Photographs needed to update the committee information on the website.
  • Secretary ( Jean ) - feels the need for a day to obtain sightmarks at all distances, to encourage all members to attempt these ( Aileen could make use of this time to help with her hours needed for the coaches training ).

Indoor Champs

Actions

  • Dave to buy some more medals.
  • Better records of trophy winners needed.
  • Aileen has a trophy to donate to the Junior Girls.
  • Review of our trophy position needed - starting after Indoor Champs - if enough money made at Calke, we could purchase more trophies for next year
  • Jean to purchase chocolate for all Junior entrants, raffle tickets, and bottle of wine for Lady Paramount (we will ask one of the “Mums” on the day )

Kit

Considering clothing to give the club an identity at tournaments.
What garments?
What colours?
A tracksuit was suggested, as well as shirt / fleece.
Alan to look into sorting out a shortlist
.We need to register colours with GNAS about a year in advance.
Possible sources of sports clothing suggested by Dave Bell, Alan Blood, and John Brooks.

Novelty shoot / BBQ

To mark the start of the Outdoor season it was sgree to organise a novelty shoot and BBQ. Aileen suggested a “Pope & Young” ( bosses set in a semicircle, 6 arrows in 30 seconds, no sights ). Date was set at the first outdoor session, Sunday 2nd April. Details TBA.

Beginners' Course

Jean to contact potential applicants ASAP.
More details to be sorted at a later date.

A.O.B.

( Dave ) To ensure safe practice on the field, we should make sure that there is a committee member present at all times. To make this workable, it was agreed to adopt a routine of contacting each other (usually via email ) in advance of every outdoor session, to “get a feel” for the availability of committee members. Usually this will not be a problem, but we need to cover all eventualities.

Calke Abbey

We need to compile a rota for the event and some names are already on the list, but gaps need to be filled. Jean to inform / appeal to members, and take a rota sheet to archery sessions, to recruit more helpers.

Date of Next Meeting

To be arranged as and when necessary.

Meeting closed at 9.05pm
