Basic Bow Set-up Centre Shot

The centre shot of a bow is the term for the lateral position and inital direction of the arrow relative to the direction to target. If the bow, string and arrow are in perfect alignment when the arrow is resting on the arrow rest, then the bow is set up on centre shot. This is the normal position for compound bows when shooting with a release aid.

However, for finger release (recurve and compound) the position of the button should be adjusted so that the edge of the shaft at the joint with the pile or point aligns with the string.

For right-handed archers the right of the arrow shaft ahouls be aligned, for left -handed archers the left of the arrow.

Once the limbs have been aligned, the bracing height and nocking point have been initialy set and the centre shot is set, you are ready to assess the tuning of the system using bare shaft method or walkback tuning.
