2006 Tatty Bogle

As the summer season comes to an end and the nights draw in, the pull of the dark and the moon is strong… Then several lunatics stand outside shooting arrows into the night sky trying to hit a pumpkin…The Ivanhoe Archers annual clout shoot the Tatty Bogle.

Yet again the Tatty Bogle proved to be a success. The night-time clout shoot, barbeque and fireworks brought out the members and the weather was particularly kind. It was also nice to welcome Tim Wright and Phil Wroe two of the founders of the club to the shoot.

The competition was spirited with the usual banter from the more senior/aged members of the club, and the occasional thinly veiled threat from Mick Edwards explaining that juniors should not even consider beating more senor members as their “Dad won’t always be around”…

The main results are listed below, but one special mention has to go to Alan “the Pyro” Bowmer, who won the flaming arrow contest. Alan didn’t so much as produce a flaming arrow as his arrow had a fuse and something for “the end”. Speculation was rife as to the cocktail Alan had used and how far back everyone should stand. The result was indeed a flaming arrow that took some extinguishing at the end, but suffice it to say that the challenge has been laid down for next year.
